INNOVATIVE WORK REPORT

            Innovative work helps the teacher to teach something effectively. Here we can increase the interest of the pupils. And also we can avoid rote learning by this interesting method. This type of innovative methods and creativity techniques has an important role in teaching leaning process. It will also help the students to store the ideas in their memory for a long time. It is very effective and powerful tool in teaching learning process.

            As a part of University of Kerala B.Ed curriculum 2019-2021, there was a school based practical work known as innovative work. This work should be applicable to enhance students learning.

          On the second phase of teaching practice I made an innovative teaching aid. In the face to face teaching practice I prepared an innovative book. The book named as ‘Book of principles of insurance’.

PROCEDURE

          During the fourth semester school internship with the students of Govt: H.S.S Palayamkunnu I have to do an innovative work. I got plus one commerce students for teaching practice. In between the online classes I got a chance to present my innovative work in front of my students.

          We know that commerce is a new stream to students who did not know about this subject until their high school level. I got unit 3 Business Services from Business Studies subject for face to face teaching. The chapter involves various business services and its features, types, functions etc. Insurance was one of the important business services, and the important sub topic in insurance was principles of insurance. Principles of insurance were the seventh lesson transcript in my face to face teaching. Principles of insurance were difficult area in this chapter. So I prepare a book that involves 7 principles of insurance. In the book each page involves one principle and its meaning with suitable picture. It attains the attention of the learners. Learners were interested to check the book. I made a flipbook also for see through online. I used A4 size color paper and other materials to do this.

 

          Learning with the text book does not give a sustainable understanding. This innovative work helps to learn easily by students without the presents of teacher.

CONCLUSION

          Innovative teaching is necessary for the present and future of education to help students to reach their full potential. The concrete learning over the abstract learning will happen through innovative works. Preparing innovative work makes to enhance the teacher’s potential also. Innovative teaching- learning aids will increase the thinking skill of teachers as well as students. Innovative works helps the teachers to simplify their teaching skills.

          My innovative work gave a new experience to teach in front of my students. I am very glad that my innovative work lead to a success in teaching learning process. Learners were more interested in creative thinking after saw my work.
